Chapter 3: Tutor

As the morning sun was streaming through the curtains, I hid the piece of paper I was writing on just before the maidservant came to wake me up, hid it where no one would find it, quickly put the lamp back in its place, turned off the light, and crawled into bed, closing my eyes as if I had been asleep all night.

To be honest, I had been thinking about how to deal with this for a long time, and I was completely awake and not at all sleepy, so I was raccooned out of bed.

Then there was a discreet knock on my bedroom door, and a woman came through it slowly.

As soon as I see this, I close my eyes and pretend to be asleep.

Meanwhile, the maidservant approached my bed and gently placed her hand on my forehead to check my fever.

…I’m sorry to hear that the maids were worried about me too…

With a bitter smile in my heart, I slowly opened my eyes as if I had just woken up.

Then the maid noticed this and hurriedly withdrew her hand.

“I’m very sorry to wake you up, Miss Cecilia!”

“No, I just woke up, so I’m fine. And it was a great feeling.”

“Oh!”

I smiled at her and she smiled back happily.

Then I ate the breakfast that had been prepared for me and headed for my destination.

But to be honest, I was tired of smiling at them every time they asked me if I was feeling well, and I was tired of smiling at them to say I was fine.

When I arrived at the door of my room, I knocked on it with my little hand.

Then I heard a reply from inside, so I managed to stand tall and grab the handle and slowly opened the door and went in.

“…Otou-chama.”

“Hmm? Oh, Cecilia! Are you feeling okay now?”

“Yes! I’m full of energy!”

“I’m glad to hear it. ‘That’s good to hear, but it’s unusual for Cecilia to be in my office at this hour. Well, I’m happy to see you.”

“Because Daddy’s going to go away soon, aren’t you? That’s why I wanted to get to you before that.”

“Yes! That’s nice to hear.”

Father looked happy at my words, and he put the papers he was holding on the office desk, got up and walked over to me, and picked me up in a light embrace.

As I was being held up by my father with one arm, I saw his neat face right in front of me, and I was in love with the fact that he was still very beautiful.

“Since I could see Cecilia’s face this morning, I can work hard all day today.”

“Good luck with your work! Oh, yeah, and I had a request!”

“Hmm? Well? It’s so unusual for Cecilia to ask me for a favor. Normally, she’s just a kid and she never asks for anything. So what are you asking for? I’ll make anything happen for you.”

And then my father smiled at me.

“I want to be able to have a good time with you,” I said. “So I want to be like big brother and ask for your help and guidance with studying.”

“…Hmm? Study? No, no, you’re only three years old, you’re too young. You can do whatever you want and play now.”

“I want to study! Please, please, please, please, please!”

I said so desperately and put my hands together and pleaded with my father, slightly moistening my eyes with my puppy-dog eyes.

“Ugh!…Haha, I can’t help it, if you say so much, I’ll find a teacher for Cecilia.”

“Thank you, Daddy! I love you!”

I gave him a big smile and kissed him on the cheek, and he looked very happy

“Good! I’ll get the best tutor for Cecilia!”

I squeezed his little hand tightly so that he wouldn’t notice me as I smiled at my father who promised me that.

Alright! I managed to get a tutor! In the meantime, if I’m going to avoid the death flag that’s waiting for me in my future, I need to know a lot about this world first! Because my knowledge is only fragmentary knowledge that can be found in the game, so I thought it should definitely affect my future if I have or don’t have the proper knowledge. If you think about it normally, I can avoid the death flag by preventing the heroine’s happy ending, but… then I’d be doing exactly the same thing as the original Cecilia, and if I make a mistake, the death flag would go up. And… after all, I don’t want to interfere with that heroine’s happiness! I want her to have a happy ending. I don’t want to get in the way of the heroine’s happiness, and I’m going to start doing what I can to help her survive.

The first thing I would do among the measures I thought of all night was to get a tutor to help me gain knowledge of this world.

In order to do this, I asked my father, who loves me very much, to do it right away.

A few days later, my father brought a tutor to our house.

“Cecilia,” he said, “I’d like you to meet someone. This is Mr. Dimitria, the Director of the Ministry of Academic Research at the Royal Palace.”

…Oh, the director of the Ministry of Academic Research at the Royal Palace! You mean to tell me that you asked the director of one of the country’s top institutes for smart people to tutor your three-year old daughter!?

I was surprised at the title, when Mr. Dimitria stepped forward from father to address me.

“It’s nice to meet you, Cecilia-sama. Your father, Mr. Reinhardt, has told me about you and I am impressed that you are interested in studies at the age of three, and I am happy to accept your offer. I look forward to working with you in the future.”

Dimitria…

Mr. Dimitria was a beautiful looking man with long dark green hair that was cut back and brown eyes, and he wore silver-rimmed glasses.

And when Dimitria-sensei greeted me, he smiled and put his hands on his chest and bowed his head lightly, so I immediately returned the greeting by lightly grabbing the hem of my skirt.

“Hmm, you certainly have a very mature vibe for a three-year old like Reinhardt-sama said.”

“Isn’t that right? She’s always been a very good girl who doesn’t cry much, isn’t selfish, and does what we say. Plus…”

When father spoke with a proud face, Mr. Dimitria listened silently to father’s still-going story of parental stupidity without losing his smile.

Sorry, Mr. Dimitria, I’m sorry.

Finally, after he had finished speaking, he left to go to his office to do some work, and I was to be taught by Mr. Dimitria.

Three hours later, at the end of today’s class, he came back to my room where I was taking classes.

Then, Mr. Dimitria came over to my father with a very excited look on his face.

“Mr. Reinhardt! Your daughter, Lady Cecilia, may be a genius!”

“Hey, Dimitria, please calm down! What is going on?”

“Look at this!”

“What’s this?”

“Here’s what Lady Cecilia wrote and the mathematical solution.”

“Did Cecilia really do this?”

“Yes! It’s very hard to believe she’s three years old—she’s so brilliant!”

My father looked at the paper he had received from Mr. Dimitria and then looked at me in amazement.

But as for me, I could only stand there scratching my cheeks with a troubled expression on my face.

…No~ I had a hint of it, but it was a game made in this world Japan, so the letters were in Japanese and the math was all easy for me, who graduated from college. But I’d never seen a picture book with stories in it, except for the ones my mom read to me before bedtime. I didn’t think that the common language of this world was Japanese, because I heard it in Japanese from the beginning.

Today was the first time I had ever heard of this and I had mixed feelings about it.

Therefore I was able to do the problems without any difficulty, and even though it was still in hiragana, I was able to write the letters perfectly.

“She’s really a wonderful girl! I’d love to have you join our Royal Court Academic Research Ministry in the future!”

“No, I don’t think that’s…”

“…Oh, that’s right. It’s a tough thing to do, being the daughter of a duke. But if you have the chance, please consider it.”

“Well, I understand. But if I can get into the Ministry of Academic Research at the Royal Palace, wouldn’t Mr. Dimitria’s son be a better fit?”

“Of course he intends to, and he’s been working hard every day on his studies.”

“Come to think of it, your son was such a brilliant prodigy, wasn’t he? One year older than Cecilia, I believe, and four years old?”

“Yes, he is. If I may say so myself, as a parent, that child is also a genius. It’s just that his character is a bit…”

Then Mr. Dimitria closed his mouth and gave him a troubled look.

Then your father remembered something and didn’t ask any more questions.

But when I heard their conversation, I had a bad feeling about it.

…A boy of genius who is called a prodigy at the age of four. In the future, he wants to be a member of the Royal Palace’s Ministry of Academic Research. There seems to be a problem with his personality… I have an idea of someone who fits this description…

I called out to Mr. Dimitria with a very, very bad feeling growing in me.

“Dimitria-sensei…what is your family name?”

“What? Oh, by the way, I didn’t tell you my full name. It’s just that being a director, I often forget my useless family name. My family name is Risent…Dimitria Risent…I’m an Earl, in case you were wondering.”

“R-Risent…what was the name of your son?”

“Son? My son’s name is Ghislan Risent.”

“…”

I had an even worse feeling when I heard the name of Mr. Dimitria’s family, and I was shocked to hear his son’s name.

Ahh, I knew it was Ghislan Risent!!!!

Ghislan Risent

He is one of the capture targets in the game and is 18 years old when it starts.

He has long dark green hair, which is later tied up in a single bow, and he has a beautiful face with slit golden eyes and silver-rimmed glasses.

He has been called a child prodigy since he was about 4 years old, surprising adults with his sharp mind.

His goal is to join the Ministry of Science and Research, and he works hard at his studies.

However, this may be the reason why he doesn’t get along well with others and doesn’t like to talk to people who are dumber than him. Even when he has no choice, he always has a sharp way of talking to them.

But as he gets to know the heroine, his mind is softened, and he begins to see her as someone important to him, changing his mind from thinking that his studies are his only source of support.

When he and the heroine were finally lovers, an enraged Cecilia attacked her, and he and the heroine ran away from the cliff where they had escaped, dropping Cecilia off the cliff and killing her.

I remembered what I had written about “Ghislan” and one of my endings, falling to my death on a cliff, went through my mind.

Ugh! I can’t believe I’ve already made a connection here with the people involved in the attack! If I could, I’d never want to be involved in this for the rest of my life!

I was in a state of abandonment at that fact when Mr. Dimitria called out to me with a strange look on her face.

“What’s wrong, Cecilia-sama? Oh, do you want to meet my son, by any chance? Then I’ll take you with me next time…”

“No! It’s fine!”

Before Mr. Dimitria could finish, I shouted my refusal with a desperate look on my face.
