Chapter 15: Dancing With the Prince

I was responding to the nobles who came to greet me without a trace along with Kaiser, with a smile plastered on my face.

I expected it, but……..being the fiancé of the Crown Prince is a pain in the ass! And although they’ve been congratulating me since a while ago……..even I can tell that was just superficial. The proof of this is that noblemen who have daughters immediately promote their own daughters to Kaiser, hoping that my position as a fiancée will be changed from me to their own daughters. Honestly, for me, I’d so much like for it to change…

I had no choice but to pretend to listen to what he had to say and wondered what I was going to have for dinner today.

Then a nobleman came in front of me with a young lady about the same age as me.

I was inwardly disgusted when I saw the two of them and wondered if the same story would start again, but I remembered the list of noblemen I had drummed into my head as I stared at their faces with a smile on my face.

Well………I believe this person was the Marquis of Daiharia who is a minister, right?

He came up to us accompanied by his daughter.

That Lateia-sama has pale purple hair and green eyes with a beautiful but tight face. But if you look closely, you can see freckles, although she does her best to hide them with makeup.

Then Lateia-sama noticed my gaze and looked at me and glared at me unhappily.

…Ahh, how many times has this happened?

All the young ladies who came to greet me with their fathers a while ago are all glaring at me like this.

Well, it’s true…if a young lady who just recently made her debut in society becomes the prince’s fiancée in the blink of an eye, they won’t be able to convince her, no matter how much of a duke’s daughter she is.

I was thinking of the young ladies who had been desperately clinging to Kaiser during his debut in society.

Then the long greetings were over and I could finally move freely.

I looked around to avoid suspicion, I found the place I wanted and raised the corner of my mouth.

Yes! Another day, another delicious looking meal!

As I was staring at the food, there was a long table with a white tablecloth on which was an array of beautiful dishes.

In fact, the only thing I was looking forward to at the gloomy engagement party was the food, so I immediately set out to go to the place where the food was lined up.

But as soon as I stepped out, Kaiser grabbed my hand and held me back.

I looked at Kaiser, wondering about it, and he was smiling at me with a pseudo-smile.

“Cecilia…where were you going?”

“What? No…I’m just going to grab some food over there…”

“…I know that Cecilia loves to eat, but as expected, could you refrain from doing so today?”

“I…I don’t know why.”

“You’re the star of today’s show. I don’t think it would be very good for those noblemen to see you being able to eat so much food without being bothered by your surroundings…”

“…”

When I glanced around at Kaiser’s words, I saw that there were nobles chatting with each other everywhere, but it seemed that these nobles seemed to be paying attention to me from time to time.

…Ah, I can’t eat. The last time it was all children, and the young noble daughter, who was making her debut in society, was the star of the show, so it wasn’t so conspicuous… but as expected, for the prince’s fiancée to eat it without a care in the world…the Heinz family’s dignity would be questioned.

So I just stared at the delicious food with a rueful look on my face.

Then, seeing me, Kaiser smiled with a small smile and said,

“Cecilia, after this engagement party is over, I will have the food brought to the other room so you can eat as much as you want there.”

“What? Are you sure!?”

“Yes, of course. But I’ll be there with you when you do.”

“I suppose…”

I let out a sigh at Kaiser’s words with a half resigned expression on my face.

“So for now, let’s just play the lead role for today.”

“What? No more greetings…”

“To show everyone how close we are, let’s dance together.”

“Yeah…”

“…Cecilia doesn’t want to dance with me?”

“No, I’m not saying I don’t want to, but…”

“Good, then. Then let’s go!”

“What? Wait, wait, wait. Kaiser! Let me prepare myself!”

Kaiser, who acted as if he didn’t hear what I was saying, took my hand in his and led me to the center of the hall where the dance was taking place.

I let out a sigh of resignation, and then I had no choice but to follow Kaiser’s dancing.

…Oh, as expected of a prince, he’s so good! And he’s a perfect lead, so it’s very easy to dance!

I was admiring Kaiser’s skills and danced comfortably.

“Huh, I couldn’t dance with Cecilia last time, but today I’m very happy to finally dance with you.”

“…is that supposed to make me happy? I suppose it’s not that easy to dance with me and the other ladies, is it?”

“No, Cecilia is the best! In fact, I have absolutely no desire to dance with any other young lady anymore.”

“That’s not really possible for a prince in your position, is it? Don’t worry about me, and you can dance with the rest of them, too.”

I felt bad that Kaiser was worried about me and wouldn’t dance with the others, so I smiled at him and encouraged him to do so.

But when Kaiser heard my words, he looked at me intently with a somewhat complicated expression.

“Cecilia…Don’t you not want me, your fiancé, to dance with another young lady?”

“What? No, I don’t think so at all, do you?”

I replied to Kaiser’s question with a scowl on my face.

Then he let out a big sigh and slumped his shoulders, but them he immediately straightened his posture, smiled at me again, and said emphatically,

“I will definitely change Cecilia’s mind, won’t I?”

But I didn’t understand the meaning of Kaiser’s words and tilted my head with my eyes blinking.

Meanwhile, the song was over and we moved away from each other and thanked each other.

Suddenly there was a round of applause, which startled me and I looked around.

Before I knew it, there was no one near us, but everyone seemed to be watching our dance.

I was embarrassed by this, and returned the applause by plucking at the hem of my skirt and bowing to them.

“After all, it seems that everyone could see how wonderful Cecilia’s dancing was.”

“…Did you notice this situation, Kaiser, by any chance?”

“Yes, in the middle, though. But I didn’t want to interrupt Cecilia, who was dancing happily, so I kept quiet.”

“I wish you had told me right away if you could…”

“But…if I was told that, I’m sure I’d be too nervous to dance well?”

“…maybe so.”

“I knew it was a good thing I didn’t say anything. Now I’d like to dance with a slightly nervous Cecilia, so one more song…”

“Cecilia!”

Just as Kaiser was about to take my hand again with a smile on his face, I heard a voice behind me calling out strongly to me, and I turned around in surprise to find Ghislan standing there, firmly dressed in formal attire.

“What, Ghislan! You were here today! I mean, didn’t you say that you don’t like these balls and evenings and stuff like that, so you don’t attend them as much as possible?”

“Oh I hate them. Especially today, it was a disgusting ball called the engagement announcement…but still, I came because of Cecilia.”

“Yeah, I see. But I don’t know why you’re here because I’m here…I hope this is an opportunity for you to practice getting to know people!”

“…I only need to hang out with Cecilia, that’s all I need.”

“No, no, no, no! You’re going to have to get used to it, even if it’s not me!”

“…”

As I turned a dumbfounded expression at the somewhat grumpy Ghislan, Kaiser came alongside me with a smirk and a pseudo-smile on his face.

“Hey Ghislan, thank you for taking the time to come to me and Cecilia’s ‘engagement announcement’ today. If you have any congratulations to offer, I’m all ears, okay?”

“I will not!”

“Okay…so I’m still dancing with Cecilia, would you please leave?”

“Hey, Kaiser!”

I was in a panic at Kaiser’s words, thinking that this is where the fight would start again.

But Ghislan glared sharply at Kaiser, then immediately turned his gaze to me and quickly held out his right hand.

“Cecilia…will you dance with me?”

“What?”

“…Ghislan, how can you say that in front of her fiancé?”

“I’m asking Cecilia…No?”

I felt that Ghislan really wanted to dance with me by the way he was staring at me.

I see……..Since Ghislan hasn’t gone out with many people in the past, I’m the only one who can dance with him here…it can’t be helped

I smiled ruefully at Ghislan’s current situation and put my hand on his right hand.

“Good. I’ll dance with you.”

“Cecilia!”

“Well, Kaiser, it’s a pity that Ghislan can’t dance with anyone else after he’s been so brave to come here. I thought I would at least get him used to it.”

“…”

My words of kindness made them look indescribable for some reason.

When I was wondering what they were doing, suddenly Kaiser pressed his hand over his mouth and blew out lightly.

“Kuku, yeah, if you say that, I will forgive you only this time. Hmm, Ghislan, try to get used to Cecilia firmly.”

“Tsk…”

Ghislan clicked his tongue in a very unhappy manner at Kaiser who grinned, but he didn’t let go of my hand and pulled me tightly away from Kaiser and moved to the edge of the dance circle.

Then Ghislan grabbed my hands and hips again with a sour expression on his face and stepped out with the song.

“…I’m surprised. I didn’t expect Ghislan to be able to dance like this.”

“…I’m a child of a count family, after all. My mother strictly insisted that I learn it, so I was taught the bare minimum of nobility and dancing.”

“However, it may be that in the future, you may end up dancing with another lady (the heroine), and it may be a good idea to practice with a woman now. When you get used to it, you might want to try dancing with other young ladies as well.”

“I don’t want anyone but you, ever.”

“Huh, well, I’m not saying you have to, but you’ll get used to it.”

“That’s not what I’m saying, but…”

“What? What do you mean then?”

“I won’t tell you!”

When I asked him curiously, Ghislan turned his head to the side with a miffed look on his face.

But he still stepped forward and led me well.

For some reason, I spent a strange time with Ghislan, who was still dancing with a sour look on his face.
